Home remedy to remove tartar yourself

What is tartar?
Tartar is the result of the calcification of dental plaque, a thin film composed of bacteria and food debris. When this plaque is not properly removed with daily brushing, it hardens and becomes tartar. Unlike plaque, tartar does not disappear with simple brushing: it accumulates and becomes an open door to other complications.

Why do some people develop more tartar?
Certain conditions favor tartar formation:

Mineral-rich saliva

Brittle teeth

Irregular teeth

Hormonal changes (pregnancy, puberty, menopause)

Diabetes, thyroid disease, chronic stress

Lifestyle habits also increase the risk: excessive consumption of sugars, processed foods, colored beverages (coffee, black tea), tobacco, and insufficient oral hygiene.

Consequences of Not Removing Tartar
Dental tartar is not only unsightly but also dangerous:

Gingivitis and periodontitis (inflammation of the supporting tissues)

Persistent bad breath

Exposed tooth roots

Premature tooth loss

Therefore, it is essential to act quickly.

Natural Home Remedy for Tartar
This weekly treatment combines accessible and powerful ingredients to remove tartar, freshen breath, and preserve enamel:

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of baking soda

1/2 tablespoon of fine salt

Fresh lemon juice

Warm water

1 clean toothpick

5 teeth

Treatment Steps:
Prepare the cleaning paste: Mix the baking soda and salt in a bowl.

Dip your toothbrush or a damp cotton swab into the paste and then gently brush your teeth for 3 minutes.

Rinse your mouth and then gargle with a mixture of warm water and lemon juice for 1 minute.

Remove the softened tartar using a toothpick, being careful not to scrape your gums.

Finish with a homemade mouthwash: infuse cloves in 250 ml of warm water for 10 minutes, strain, and use to disinfect your mouth.

👉Do this only once a week to avoid damaging your tooth enamel.
